German company insolvencies in July 2026: Destatis reports +8.0%

By the e-handelsregisterauszug.de editorial team · Published · Reviewed

Source released on 9 October 2026; reporting month July 2026. Destatis reports 2,373 applications for company insolvency proceedings, 8.0% above July 2025. Our assessment dated 17 October 2026 explains the limits of using this release to research one company.

What was reported?

The figure describes a nationwide monthly development. It concerns business insolvencies and should not be presented as the total of all personal and business proceedings. Comparisons need matching periods and statistical categories.

Why the figures arrive later

Destatis records applications after the first court decision. The application itself often precedes this by approximately three months. An October publication therefore does not count all applications submitted in October.

What this means for a particular company

A national increase does not establish proceedings against a specific counterparty. Our practical assessment is to separate economic context from evidence identifying the company you are checking. A similar name alone cannot establish a match.

How to keep a useful research record

Start with the full company name and register reference. For a specific announcement, check the court, case number, date and subject of the proceedings. Save the time of your research with the document you consulted.

  • Identify the legal entity.
  • Read the official announcement in context.
  • Resolve differences in names or registered offices before drawing conclusions.

What the figures cannot settle

Statistics replace neither a credit assessment nor a current check of an individual case. An empty search result is also no guarantee of solvency. Record the sources and periods actually checked before using the result in a business decision.
