Insolvency check: meaning and limits

By the e-handelsregisterauszug.de editorial team · Published · Reviewed

An insolvency check searches specified sources using particular criteria at a particular time. The label alone guarantees neither complete historical coverage nor evidence of solvency.

Review a match

Public insolvency court notices can concern different procedural stages. Read the specific decision and distinguish provisional measures, opening of proceedings and dismissal for insufficient assets. Match the entity, address, court and case reference.

No match is not an all-clear

A negative result depends on search terms, source, publication and deletion rules, and search time. It cannot exclude matters not yet published or notices no longer available. The search does not replace a credit assessment.

Record the result

Record the source, search date, entity identifiers and relevant notices. A search result is not automatically a court certificate. Ask the recipient to specify any required negative certificate and its format.
