OHG: general commercial partnership

By the e-handelsregisterauszug.de editorial team · Published · Reviewed

An offene Handelsgesellschaft is a partnership in which none of the partners has limited liability towards partnership creditors. It is entered in section A of the commercial register.

Meaning and context

The form differs from both a GmbH and a KG. There is no statutory minimum nominal capital equivalent to the GmbH requirement. Identifying the actual partners is therefore an important part of research.

What the documents show

The register records partners and their authority to represent the partnership. Read the registered rule: a person’s name alone does not answer every question about whether they may act independently.

Research tip

Compare current and earlier entries when examining partner changes or a change of legal form. Use the court and HRA number to identify the correct record.
